Building Resiliency in the Policing Workplace Environment

This collaborative research project with Barrie Police Services aims to build resiliency and support a culture of mental health and well-being in policing. The primary aim of this project is to identify occupational, operational, and organizational challenges in policing and develop a comprehensive plan to address these issues by building on existing mental health programs and implementing new ones. The effectiveness of these programs will also be continuously evaluated to implement necessary improvements. This three-year project is funded by a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) grant awarded to Drs. Gittens and Deschamps.
